Top 10 Ways to Prevent Animal Cruelty

1. Be aware.

It all comes from the public, it all starts with YOU—that’s why it’s so important to keep your eyes and ears open. Get to know and look out for the animals in your neighborhood. By being aware, you’re more likely to notice, for example, that the dog next door who was once hefty has lost weight rapidly—a possible indicator of abuse.

2. Learn to recognize animal cruelty.

Here are some signs and symptoms that we see in many of the cases we investigate:
  • Wounds on the body.
  • Patches of missing hair.
  • Extremely thin, starving animals.
  • Limping.
  • Dogs who are kept outside without shelter in extreme weather conditions.
3. Know who to call to report animal cruelty.

In some areas, you may have to rely on the police department to investigate animal cruelty; in others, you may have to contact local animal control or another municipal agency. If you aren’t sure where to report cruelty visit our Report Animal Cruelty section.

4. Provide as much as information as possible when reporting animal cruelty.

The details that you provide can go a long way toward assisting the investigating officer. It helps to write down the type of cruelty that you witnessed, who was involved, the date of the incident and where it took place.

5. Call or write your local law enforcement department

let them know that investigating animal cruelty should be a priority. Animal cruelty is a CRIME—and the police MUST investigate these crimes.

6. Know your state’s animal cruelty laws.

These vary from state to state, and even from city to city. You can visit the ASPCA’s online database of more than 550 animal cruelty laws—and their penalties—in all 50 states.

7. Fight for the passage of strong anti-cruelty laws on federal, state and local levels by joining the ASPCA Advocacy Brigade.

As an ASPCA Advocacy Brigade member, you’ll receive emails asking you to write letters encouraging your legislators to pass these laws-and you can send them directly from our website.

8. Set a good example for others.

If you have pets, be sure to always show them the love and good care that they deserve. But it’s more than just food, water, and adequate shelter. If you think your animal is sick, bring him to the veterinarian. Be responsible and have your animals spayed or neutered. And I always give my own pets lots of hugs when I get home!

9. Talk to your kids about how to treat animals with kindness and respect.

I tell kids that their dog or cat would really appreciate fresh water every day, or if they spent some time playing with them. If the animal has been left outside without shelter, I’ll say, ‘You have a nice house, and if you get cold, you can put a coat on. But your dog can’t do that. Don’t you think he’d like a nice warm place to go, too?

10. Support your local shelter or animal rescue organization.

It’s a great way to make a difference. Some of our ASPCA volunteers foster animals who have been abused in their former homes, giving these dogs and cats the chance they deserve to have a good life. You can find a list of shelters and rescue groups in your area in our National Shelter Directory.

"Animals have feelings too"

Me, Myself, and I
One of the cruellest things any human being can do, we think, is be cruel to animals. Some people think that because animals are of less intelligence, they do not feel pain, hurt or similar feelings.
BUT THEY DO!!!!!!!
Animals are living beings that deserve love and care, not cruelty and mercilessness. Show your support for us and hatred for animal cruelty by joining us! Together, we can change a world.

Bukit Merah Ecopark

While other sites highlight the plight of abused animals and attach together gruesome pictures of butchered, bloodied and mangled animals, we decide to be a little different. We will focus on the efforts of one of the wildlife organisations that preserve animals and care for them in the nicest way possible.

Situated beside Tasik Merah, Perak, this place not only takes care of animals but provide them with ample food and shelter. They emulate the animals' original habitat so that they wouldnt feel homesick. The tourists and visitors are given a briefing before entry and they are prohibited from touching sensitive animals as to not give them heart attacks..the animals, that is =P Visitors are allowed to feed the animals which are extremely tame. This shows that the animals are well-cared for and they have no reason to rebel against the trainers or tourists.

Pictures speaks thousands of words, so take a look at some of these unique, rare, cute, adorable creatures.

This was taken from a Chinese site and this happened in China..

A series of extremely bloody pictures showing the torture and killing of a cat have provoked fury from Internet users, and many are now trying to identify the perpetrator. One has even offered a 5,000 yuan reward if the killer is caught.

The gruesome pictures first appeared on a well-known Internet forum Tuesday. The series of pictures began with one showing a fashionable woman standing by a lake, smiling and holding cat in her arms. In the pictures that followed, she is seen to put the cat on the ground and stroke it tenderly. Then without warning, she tramples the cat’s stomachwith her high-heeled shoe. If this were not enough, she then puts her heel in the cat’s mouth and even its eyes. The series ends with the cat dead, its body by now bloody and mangled. The pictures quickly spread to most of China’s popular online forums. Some Internet users made a wanted notice using the face of the woman in the pictures and appealed for other net surfers to help find her. To date, an estimated 100,000 Internet users hve taken part in efforts to identify the pictures’ origins. Many have also begun to investigate the story behind the incident. These efforts appear to have identified the source of the pictures. It was revealed that they were stills from a video produced for a site called crushworld.net, which is registered in Hangzhou.

An unnamed source told the Shanghai Morning Post that it is not merely an isolated case of animal cruelty and that there is definitely an organization behind it. The source said that this kind of video is specially produced for financial gain.

should you really go to jail?

salam n greeting to all..

After killing his girlfriend's cat and leaving a trail of blood to lead her to the carcass, an L.A. man was sentenced to two years behind bars. While this case may be a bit extreme, it got us thinking: Should you really go to jail for animal cruelty?

Leaving your dog tied outside without shelter, forgetting to feed your goats and overcrowding your home with too many cats could make you a criminal in the USA, but not in Malaysia. Animal cruelty isn't considered a crime in the Great White North, so we wonder why our government is so strict about the treatment of fuzzy creatures -- after all, they're just animals. Does this mean we should be arrested for accidentally hitting birds while we drive or exterminating vermin from our property?

Should we go to jail for animal cruelty? Why does the U.S. have stricter laws on animal welfare in comparison to Malaysia?

what can we do to help them?

8 Things We Can Do to Help Stop Animal Cruelty

Whether it's a case of neglect or a malicious act of cruelty, you can help protect animals.

Why should you care?

Because it's the right thing to do. Because cruelty to animals is illegal in all 50 states. And because people who harm animals may also harm people. Stopping cruelty to animals helps everyone.

What Can You Do?

1. Get help for the animal.

If you see someone hurting an animal or if you know of someone whose animal looks sick, injured, or deprived of adequate food, water, or shelter, get help. Call the police, your local animal shelter, or a trusted adult. Do not try to help the animal yourself—that could put you in danger.

2. Get the facts.

Write everything down. As a witness, you'll need to provide the date, time, location, and any other details you can remember, including descriptions of the animal, the type of cruelty, and the person who may be responsible for it.

3. Get the word out.

Educate your friends, family, and teachers about animal cruelty and its connection to human violence by sharing information and materials. (like what i'm doing now.. ;P)

4. Be a role model.

Let your actions be a guide. Be kind to animals and let others know that hurting animals is wrong. Speak up for animals and urge others to do the same.

5. Be a responsible pet owner.

Don't let your cats and dogs roam. Cats are safest indoors. When outdoors, dogs should be walked on a leash or supervised in a fenced yard. It's up to you to keep your pets safe.

6. Keep a lookout.

If you see a stray or injured animal, contact your local animal care and control agency or the police. Provide a description of the animal and the location.

7. Make the 'Net work.

If you find an Internet site that promotes animal abuse, urge the service provider that hosts the web site to remove it immediately. You can find the address of the web site's provider at networksolutions.org.

8. Stop cruelty before it begins.

Teach elementary schoolchildren in your community to be kind to animals. Then, we also can report the cruelty to Department of Wildlife and National Park or may be you can contact this number ; 03-90866800 ext 6998. u may also also visit the website.
